Marc Jones

marcjonesMarc has been in osteopathic practice for over twenty years having graduated from the British School of Osteopathy in 1995 and is now also studying for a Master’s degree in Functional Musculoskeletal Health.  He has previously practiced in the UK as well as in both Montreal and Vancouver and in the latter case was a founding director of the society Osteopathy BC.

Appointments with Marc typically involve a combination of osteopathic therapy, functional movement exercise, problem-solving advice and looking in to your own personal ‘causes & effects’ that contribute to where you are today. Through this, Marc also looks to find those ‘marginal gains’ that can make such a difference over the longer term in helping you to reduce your symptoms, improve your function and enable you to maintain those lifestyles that you enjoy so much.

From two decades of musculoskeletal practice he will quite happily answer most of your questions with, “it depends!” There are very few quick fixes in healthcare and for this reason he wants the time spent together to be a ‘team-effort’ and typically finds that 4-6 appointments on a weekly or two-weekly basis will be sufficient for many conditions to improve.  From there you may decide that simply returning on a wellness basis of your choosing is right for you or you may feel that continuing to work together some more can take you further still.  Of course, Marc will tell you that he cannot fix everything himself and if he feels that you should be referred elsewhere, he will gladly assist you in any way that he can.

Further to his four year full-time osteopathic degree, Marc’s qualifications and certifications also include:

– The Ultimate Back and Three Hour Assessments from Professor Stuart McGill
– Applied Functional Science from the Gray Institute
– FMS and SFMA from Functional Movement Systems
– Research Methods at the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic
– Evidence-based Practice at the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic
– Professional Clinical Practice at the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic
Currently Marc is undertaking his MSc Advanced Professional Practice (Functional Musculoskeletal
Health) at the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic in a joint osteopathic-chiropractic venture.
